New Hope for Orang-utans
Prior to the collaboration with the WWF, the Company was involved with other initiatives aimed at assisting the fast-dwindling population of the orang-utan.
Several of the projects for orang-utan conservation include:
- Special packaging - to raise public awareness through various activities with its consumers by including special edition tea packs detailing information on the orang-utan and its endangerment to encourage support for WWF – Malaysia and promotional items featuring the orang-utan. A limited alarm clock was also designed to accompany the tea packs.
BOH menjalin hubungan di ERA – a joint venture with ERA radio station and WWF – Malaysia to reach to the community and spread awareness of the orang-utan plight.
Collaboration with RapidKL and BigTree – both the interior and exterior of a PUTRA LRT train was wrapped in floor - to - ceiling wallpaper to mimic the leafy habitat of the endangered orang-utan.
- Tea for Trees – Restoring the home of Orang-utans – a public campaign to encourage the public to support the conservation of the orang-utans.
In 2002, the company embarked on the "New Hope for Orang-utan" project, with the setting up of a website to highlight issues threatening the orang-utans and their habitat.
